How Sassa Notifies Beneficiaries Of An Upcoming Review

Social grants are distributed by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). A beneficiary review has been conducted in order to ensure that beneficiaries are still eligible.

How Sassa Notifies Beneficiaries Of An Upcoming Review

Social Assistance Regulations, Regulation 30 specifies that Sassa shall send notifications to beneficiaries via registered mail via the post office.

To notify a client of a review, Sassa follows three steps

  • A review must first be notified to the beneficiary
  • If they do not respond to the review request, their grant will be suspended.
  • Those who did not receive the communication can contact SASSA to inquire about the reason for the suspension. Their grant suspension will be lifted once they have completed the review process and met the eligibility criteria.
  • If the beneficiary fails to come forward for the review or approach SASSA after being suspended, the grant will be canceled.
