NSFAS does not pay for private accommodation unless it is accredited by the organization. You can check if your accommodation is NSFAS accredited on the website of your tertiary education institution.

It will indicate which accommodations are available on campus as well as which nearby residences are associated with the tertiary institution. It is most likely that nearby residences associated with tertiary education institutions are accredited by NSFAS.
