What Documents Are Needed For A NSFAS Appeal?

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has seen an increase in funding applications in recent years. A batch of students will not receive funding due to a variety of reasons.

It is possible, however, for students to appeal the bursary scheme’s decision not to fund them if they applied for NSFAS.

Students are required to submit the following documents to substantiate their NSFAS appeals

  • Medical certificate
  • Death certificate of an immediate family member
  • Academic transcript
  • Payslips or more depending on the reason for declined application status

Student appeals that are not supported by an affidavit or applications without documents will be rejected by NSFAS.

After receiving an unsuccessful application status, students should appeal within 30 days. The Scheme will automatically close the appeal application if any outstanding documentation is not submitted within 14 days of filing the appeal.

Appeals must be submitted within the prescribed timeframe by the student with supporting evidence. The students will be able to track the progress of their appeals on their myNSFAS portal once they have completed this process.
