SASSA Grant Payment Schedule For 2024. As we enter the new year, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has unveiled the grant payment schedule for 2024. Beneficiaries can now plan their financial needs effectively with the confirmed payment dates for the upcoming months.

Types of Grants

SASSA administers various permanent grants, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid. These grants are distributed in the first week of every month.

February 2024 Payment Dates

• Older Persons Grant: 2 February 2024
• Disability Grants: 5 February 2024
• Children’s Grants: 6 February 2024

March 2024 Payment Dates

• Older Persons Grant: 5 March 2024
• Disability Grants: 6 March 2024
• Children’s Grants: 7 March 2024

Note: Sassa grant payments are not processed on public holidays or weekends. If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the grant will be disbursed on the next working day, following the payment schedule.

Collection Points

Beneficiaries have the flexibility to collect their Sassa grants at various payment points, including ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer.

Outstanding January 2024 Grant Payments

Sassa acknowledges the outstanding January 2024 grant payments, assuring beneficiaries that these will be addressed in the February 2024 payment cycle.

In January, over 150,000 beneficiaries out of the 19 million did not receive their grants. The non-payment was attributed to discrepancies in grant beneficiary details, including mismatched ID numbers with bank records, incorrect banking details, and changes in grant payment methods.

The agency temporarily suspended these grant payments to rectify the discrepancies and prevent any erroneous distribution of grants. Sassa emphasized the importance of ensuring that the right grant reaches the correct individual, responding to concerns raised by the Auditor General.
