How To Submit A NSFAS Appeal

The NSFAS funding appeal process can still help you get funding from NSFAS.It is still possible to receive funding from NSFAS after your bursary application has been rejected. Exactly how? You can appeal to NSFAS by submitting an appeal form.

How To Submit A NSFAS Appeal

You can appeal your NSFAS online application to have it evaluated again by NSFAS. In order to appeal your NSFAS application status, you need to submit it within 30 days after seeing ‘unsuccessful’.

MyNSFAS offers the option to appeal to NSFAS applications. Next, you must submit the required documentation and information with your appeal application.

The following steps will guide you through the NSFAS appeal process:

  • Go to www.nsfas.org.za and sign in to your “MyNSFAS” account​
  • To track funding progress, click the ‘Track Funding Progress’ button
  • Progress tabs are available for each application
  • By clicking on the ‘Submit Appeal Tab’, you can appeal an unsuccessful application status
  • You can see the reason for your unsuccessful application status once you are on the ‘Application Appeal’ page
  • After choosing the appeal reason, you can proceed to the next step
  • If you want to support your reason with certified documents, you can upload them
  • You can then submit your appeal by clicking ‘Submit Appeal’
  • Using your myNSFAS account, you can now monitor the appeal’s progress.

Following NSFAS’ rejection of an application, applicants typically have 30 days to appeal the decision. For the 2023 academic year, all NSFAS appeals must be submitted by Monday, 20 February 2023.
